Every fall, New Hampshire hosts the New Hampshire Highland Games. This is a Highland Games competition and a Scottish heritage festival. It was held at the Loon Mountain Resort. The festival consists of merchants selling traditional Scottish items and food, and a Highland Games competition featuring both amateur and professional athletes from around the world.

This year, Hafthor Bjornnson attended as a celebrity guest and competitor. You may know him from Game of Thrones, where he plays Ser Gregor Clegane, also known as “The Mountain.” He set two world records. One for lifting a 341 pound stone over his head, and the other for throwing a 56 pound weight over a bar 19 feet 9 inches high.
This weekend I had the honor of photographing the TEDx Amoskeag Millyard event in Derry, New Hampshire. The speakers were fantastic, and I had to remind myself to keep taking pictures, as I found myself getting pulled in to their talks. The event was held at the Stockbridge Theater, part of the Pinkerton Academy campus in Derry. The theater was amazing, plenty of room, plenty of vantage points to take photographs from, but the lighting was difficult since the theater was kept relatively dark with the only real lighting being on the speakers.
The event consisted of multiple speakers and a list of topics ranging from responsible farming and yoga as medicine, to aging and end of life acceptance. There were talks about overcoming hardships, the opioid crisis, and making math fun. It was a long day, but it was very inspiring. I would highly recommend this event to anyone and everyone!
